Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep
Wednesday, June 27, 2007
I had the most difficult shoot to date last week. I am part of a group of photographers, called Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep. Here is how it works : The hosiptal calls us when there is a still -born, or a very sick baby that isn't going to make it or a terminally child and then if we are available, we will go shoot the child, whatever the case may be - completely free of charge.
Last week, I received my first call. A Mom had delivered and the baby was a still born. She weighed 1 lb and only a few ounces. So small. I reminded me over and over the miracle of giving birth to a perfectly healthy child. It reminded me how I can be praying for other Moms and expecting Moms.
This little precious baby really touched my life. I will try and post a picture later today.
God is in control even in the midst of things like this, but more - He is comforting and He is Love. He offers that to us - He is always there!
I just wanted to share this experience.

I was directed to your sight by a relative of Aaron (of Shannon and Aaron) to see their beautiful engagement pictures. In reading your blog, I realized you were from the K'zoo area. I used to live in Battle Creek.
I am also the mother of a son who passed away days after his birth. I can't tell you how excited I was to see that you are participating in Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep. Your pictures are gorgeous, and you are giving such a generous and beautiful gift to these grieving parents.
NILMDTS was not active in the area when my son was alive, but the amateur pictures we have of him are one of my most precious treasures. So, as a mom of an angel, and knowing that these parents you helped will never be able to fully express to you their gratitude, I thank you for your generosity and kindness in providing pictures to people who won't be able to see thier child grow. It is one of the best gifts they will ever receive.
And, also, thank you for not being shy about sharing the pictures on your website. No matter how little, our babies are beautiful. I look forward to checking back and seeing them on your site.

I just wanted to thank you for all of your comments you left about NILMDTS . It is such a touching opportunity I have as a photographer. I don't take it lightly. I do hope that the pictures I take of these precious little ones touch their parents and bring maybe a smile to their face later on.
Thank you so much!
Megan
